Known Issues and Solutions

This is a running list of Crucible's known issues and potential solutions that may resolve them. If these steps don't resolve your issue, you can still contact us for assistance.

Fatal Error - ERROR_LOGIN_TIMED_OUT or ERROR_RECONNECT_TIMED_OUT

Check your system clock

Checks your Windows version

If your computer is on a Windows Insider/Preview build, you may need to reinstall a public release version of Windows. Alternatively, you can try a different Insider/Preview build. Crucible won't run on some Insider/Preview builds.

Reinstall the Amazon Root Certificate Authority


  1. Download the AmazonRootCA1.cer file from https://www.amazontrust.com/repository/AmazonRootCA1.cer.
  2. Locate the file, open it, and click Install Certificate.
  3. Click the radio button next to Place all certificates in the following store and then click Browse.
  4. Select Trusted Root Certificate Authorities and then click OK.
  5. Click Next and then Finish to complete the process.

Error matchmaking.error.title or other connection errors

Check your system clock

Force Crucible to use the discrete GPU

From the Crucible.exe

  1. Locate the Crucible.exe. The default installation path is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Crucible\bin\Crucible.exe.
  2. Right click the Crucible.exe and hover your mouse over Run with graphics processor.
  3. Select your discrete GPU. This is typically going to be the option that does not say "Integrated graphics."
From Windows 10 Graphics settings

  1. Open Windows 10 Settings by hitting Windows + I on your keyboard.
  2. Select System and then Display.
  3. Scroll down to the Multiple displays section and then click Graphics settings.
  4. Choose Classic app from the drop-down and then click Browse.
  5. Locate and select the Crucible.exe and then click Add. The default installation path is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Crucible\bin\Crucible.exe.
  6. Click Options under the Crucible app, select High performance, and then click Save.
