Women in Games: Celebrating Your Achievements

Join AWS and Amazon Games for an evening of celebration at the Women in Games event on Monday, March 18 during GDC 2024. We will highlight and honor accomplishments of those who have promoted diversity, inclusion and have advanced opportunities for women and femme-identifying individuals in the games industry in various capacities. Hosted by Amazon Web Services (AWS), Amazon Games, and Women in Games International (WIGI), the event will begin with an hour-long panel, followed by drinks, appetizers and networking.

Joanie Kraut, Chief Executive Officer for Women in Games International, will moderate the panel, which will also include: Marie Benigno Ablaza, Talent Acquisition, Recruiter, Netflix Games Studio; Christina Seelye, Chief Executive Officer, Maximum Entertainment; and Kirsten Gavoni, VP, Production, Warner Bros. Games. Plus, the panel will kick off with a special introduction by Laura Sturr, Amazon Games’ own General Manager of Operations.

The Power of Community Feedback to Create Better Games

Join our New World team members as they discuss how to interpret valuable player feedback, the positives and the negatives, always passionate and often highly vocal, and determine what makes sense for the future success of your game without impacting your vision for core design and gameplay. First, Scot Lane, Game Director of New World, and Brian Willitts, Head of Community, will share their best practices and key learnings for engaging with players, from the earliest stage of development through launch and beyond, how they evaluate input, and how listening to players plays a critical role in a game’s future direction. Next, Amazon Games’ community team will take the stage for an Ask-Me-Anything Q&A session where attendees can learn about how best to create a healthy, open dialogue with players to foster a growing audience and long-term retention and get advice on how to manage critical situations.
